At the Reh-Fit Centre, every visit is an investment in something bigger than a workout. It is an investment in living longer, staying healthier, and enjoying a better quality of life.

The research proves that medical fitness works.

A groundbreaking 10-year study led by Dr. Alan Katz found that regularly attending a certified medical fitness facility like Reh-Fit can have a dramatic impact on long-term health outcomes, happiness, and even lifespan.

“When people exercise, we know through research that it appears to be good for them,” said Katz. “But what we were able to do was follow Reh-Fit members over 10 years and connect that participation to their health records. The results were actually quite dramatic.”

The Numbers Are Powerful

The research revealed that members of certified medical fitness facilities experienced:

  • A 60% lower risk of death
  • A 13% lower risk of hospitalization
  • A 23% lower risk of a major cardiac event

And the benefits grew even stronger with consistent attendance. Individuals who visited more than three times per week had a 39% lower risk of hospitalization, reinforcing an important message: the more regularly people participate, the greater the impact on their health.

“We found that people who were attending Reh-Fit did much better in life,” added Katz.

Healthy Aging Starts with Showing Up

For adults aged 65 and older, the findings were even more compelling.

Older adults who regularly participated at Reh-Fit experienced:

  • A 45% lower risk of all-cause mortality
  • A 20% lower risk of hospitalization
  • A 27% lower risk of a major cardiac event

Frequent attendees were also more likely to visit their family physician for preventive care and less likely to require Emergency Room visits.

The research points to something many Reh-Fit members already know firsthand: staying active, connected, and engaged can transform the aging experience.

More Than a Gym

According to Dr. Katz, facilities like Reh-Fit stand apart by combining fitness with evidence-based programs, education, rehabilitation, trained health professionals, and medical support — creating an environment designed to promote lifelong wellness.

The benefits also extend beyond physical health.

Additional research found that members of medical fitness centres had a 31% lower risk of developing dementia than non-members, highlighting the strong association between regular physical activity, social engagement, and brain health.

Every Visit Counts

Whether it is a fitness class, time in the gym, rehabilitation, walking the indoor track, or simply connecting with others in a supportive community, every visit to Reh-Fit contributes to something meaningful.

Each workout. Each class. Each step.

Together, they build strength, independence, confidence, and healthier years ahead.

As Dr. Katz’s research shows, the impact is not just measurable — it is life-changing.
